Role and characteristics
Wool is an animal fibre. Yarn, thickness, knitting and blends change feel and garment behaviour. The word alone cannot predict comfort against your skin.
How to choose
Try contact at neck or wrists as appropriate. Check knit density and wear areas. Acceptable care and comfortable fit matter alongside fibre percentage.
Distinguish from
Merino describes a wool type; cashmere and mohair come from other animals. Check names and percentages instead of treating woolly appearance as composition.
Limitations and considerations
Follow exact washing, drying and ironing instructions. One jumper’s method does not apply to all. Wool percentage proves neither certification nor farming conditions.
Frequently asked questions
Can fibre name determine care?
No. Blends, finishes and accessories can change instructions. Read the whole garment label.
Do two wool jumpers feel the same?
No. Yarn, knit, blend and finishing affect the experience.
